We currently engage with more than 15,000 Makhana farming families across Bihar and neighboring regions. Our vision is to build a strong ecosystem that positively impacts 100,000 farmers by 2030, creating one of the world's largest farmer-led wellness food networks.
Increasing Farmer Income by More Than 15 Times
Over the past 25 years, Makhana prices have witnessed a remarkable transformation. Farmer realization has increased from approximately ₹40 per kg to over ₹600 per kg for premium grades, significantly enhancing rural incomes and livelihoods. This contribution toward farmer prosperity earned Shakti Sudha recognition from the World Bank for its role in increasing farmer income through value-chain development and market creation.
Expanding Cultivation from 500 to 75,000 Hectares
The Makhana cultivation landscape has undergone a historic expansion. What was once a niche crop cultivated over approximately 500 hectares has now grown to nearly 75,000 hectares, creating employment opportunities and strengthening Bihar's position as the global hub of Makhana production.
